Saturation-excess overland flow in the European loess belt: An underestimated process?

چکیده

A major challenge in runoff and soil erosion modelling is the adequate representation of most relevant processes models while avoiding over parameterization. In European loess belt, progressive crusting during rainfall events, resulting infiltration-excess runoff, usually considered dominant process generating on catchments covered with silty soils. Saturation-excess may also occur affect their behavior. However, saturation-excess occurrence quantification have rarely been performed not taken into account when these environments. Accordingly, a continuous simulation Austreberthe catchment (214 km2), located belt (Normandy, France), was conducted new Water Sediment (WaterSed) model 12 years, corresponding to more than 780 individual at 25 m spatial resolution. The inter-annual variability closely linked number intense events per year distribution through year. properly calibrated representative set 35 considering either and/or runoff. It able reproduce measured volume for monitoring period. three years were adequately modelled only including An analysis seasonal scale revealed that saturation almost all period, suggesting importance this often overlooked current attempts.

Influence of georeference for saturated excess overland flow modelling using 3D volumetric soft geo-objects

Existing 2D data structures are often insufficient for analysing the dynamism of saturation excess overland flow (SEOF) within a basin. Moreover, all stream networks and soil surface structures in GIS must be preserved within appropriate projection plane fitting techniques known as georeferencing. Inclusion of 3D volumetric structure of the current soft geo-objects simulation model would offer ...

Numerical Aspects in Simulating Overland Flow Events

In this paper a comparative analysis of 2D numerical models for overland flow simulations have been performed; in particular they are based on the shallow water approach according to fully dynamic, diffusive and kinematic wave modeling. The systems have been numerically solved by using the MacCormack second order central scheme. The models have been tested, validated and compared using numerica...

Simulation of Rain-Water Overland-Flow

Abstract. We are interested in simulating overland flow on agricultural fields during rainfall events. In this context, we definitely have to cope with dry/wet interfaces and water inflow on dry soil. The model considered is the Shallow Water system (or Saint-Venant equations) without infiltration. Moreover, the model has to be completed with friction terms. It is numerically solved by a finite...
